Piano Apprentice App Reviews

Cannot back up video.

As mentioned before, you cannot back up the video to replay a part you want to watch again. You have to watch the videos from the very beginning and cannot fast forward to a section you want to preview. You can move the time indicator, but when you release it, the indicator jumps to the start position and starts playing the video from the beginning again. Also would have been a lot better if the keyboard controller for this app was another octave longer so your left and right hands dont overlap as the instructor shows you have to do on some songs.

Cannot stop between video

Ability to stop between videos is broken for new version of OS. Functionality works on iPad 1 but broken on iPad 2+. It did work on my IPad 2 until I upgraded to new OS. Songs much easier to learn when functionality is working. Hopefully development has not been abandoned on this application. Only time will tell.

Problem solved...I think

I dont no about u guys but now I can play the real piano beautiful and for the videos I can rewind and go forward it shud work with ya too...?

Buy This App Now

This app is actually teaching me how play. Props to the Piano Guy. Besides, this app is free. If youve got a keyboard, its definatly worth your time.

Frustrated

Cannot download a thing. I have tried repeatedly and it always says download failed. Why is this? I bought 2 pianos that require this app and it does not work. I bought one for my granddaughter for Christmas and feel bad that it will not work for her. What a lousy gift!

More songs ...

Good tool, but there is hardly enough songs to interest the serious apprentice. How about a few simple jazz or pop standards?

Can not stop video

You cant fast forward or rewind with ipad2. So difficult to learn this was. It becomes tedious and boring. If they fix that it would be five star.

Bug

The bug of failing on moving forward and backward needs to be fixed for iPad 2 IOS 6.1

Great concept and works well, but...

Using it with the Ion keyboard works beautifully. Its very cool to see and hear the teacher say "these keys" and those keys light up on the keyboard as he plays them. The keyboard has two on-board speakers through which you hear the piano and the teacher, and the sound reacts to how much pressure you put on the keys. Pretty sophisticated for such an inexpensive product! The problem, for me, is the instruction. I have zero experience with piano and it would help to be able to slowly roll the instruction backwards to repeat just one segment… hand placement for a chord, for example. As it is now, you can stop/freeze the image on the iPad screen, and hit the play button to continue, but you cant "slow rewind"… it has to start from the beginning. Another problem for me… Its hard enough to learn the chords, but the finger placement is shown how it should be, but then adapted to fit the 15-key keyboard, making it very confusing. Another problem is the teacher. I like him and his easy-going manner, but he should have read from a script, or at least notes. He appears to be "winging it", because of all the times he corrects himself. (Why didnt they just edit out the bloopers?) All-in-all its a brilliant concept and implementation, but the instruction is not well thought out. In any case, it beats trying to learn from a book.

Major problem

it seems like such a great idea. But you cant stop and rewind the instruction if you missed anything. It goes right back to the beginning and youre forced to start again. Worthless.

Great with one exception

I just got the Ion piano to go with this app. Ive never played a piano before and have found this app to be a great way to learn already. I will say though that the ability to scrub through the videos would be a massive improvement to the experience. I get lost quickly and Id love to just jump back to anywhere in the videos. Also, it would be great to slow down the sheet music to lower than 60 bpm. Otherwise, great app.

More songs?

Nice app, limited on available songs. Any chance you can add more/update? Works well for learning basic cords etc.

Not for Beginners & No headphone jack!

This app is good, but it is not for beginners. The rewind/forward feature needs to be fixed for the new OS. (Every time you try to move to a section of the video it moves back to the very beginning.) Slower keywork and slower progression of lessons would be helpful for true beginners--things move way too fast for true piano novices. Maybe differentiate the lessons so that they match student levels- from people who have never touched a piano on up? Finally, the piano does not have the advertised headphone jack.

Awesome

To be honest, its a really dope app.. & the rewind thing yall are complaining about doesnt happen to me. Amazing app

My 11-year-old son is learning.

I bought the piano with a Groupon for $50 and my son has been playing and practicing a few days a week. He already has several songs memorized. Its intimidating when you start, but with a little practice it gets easier. It definitely needs more songs, though.

Looks like im the only one

Boots up nice and fast on my Ipod Touch 2nd gen with iOS 4.2.1, but all of the songs, or videos, whatever they are dont play. For example- I tap Lessons-Ode to Joy-Preview- then i get a white screen with a back button on top. Looks like a nice app, please fix it.

Love It

We love this app. I am learning how to play the piano and read music at the same time. I cannot afford piano lessons for all five of my children but can definitely afford to pay you for more apps. Please write some more apps with more songs. Id be willing to pay per song.

:O whoa

Im a 11 year old and I love piano thank you for this app but put more songs please I love music its my life I hope you could support us little ones

Good app

Good app except that I cannot skip forward or back in the videos without having to start the whole video over. Fix and ill give 5 stars.
